No need to be a trekkie to enjoy this movie. J.J. Abrahams delivers a jewel in all its lenght. Every single Star Trek movie has given the series something to remember. Then what next? What to give for the fans and next generations (no pun intended) of trekkies?
Give them Star Trek.
The story itself should be claimed as a great movie, with a smart and fast paced script. Whitout lacking character depth and filling it entirely, so, no plott holes are left. J.J. Abraham's Star Trekk presents a dynamic movie with al the requirements to be pointed as well written.
About the filmography i do have a little complain to make. It is understandable that Mr. Abrahams wanted to deliver a wonderful jolly space. Enough with the lens flairs! It's too much. Other than the last bitching moment. Photographic direction, lightning mood and atmosphere were achieved to perfection.
As an old trekkie the movie gave me everything i need in the sets presented. I felt Earth, Vulcan, U.S.S. Enterprise, Delta Vega, Nero's ship, Jellyfish and last but not least The U.S.S. Kelvin. Perfect scenography that creates the right balance between modernity and nostalgia. Never overpowered by attempts of greatness, wich guarantee greatness itself.
Music and sound are in this movie things you sould look forward too. The music itself is quite an achievement with balanced clips of orchestra for each of the sides. I radically enjoyed the powerful parts of the romulan music while attack. On sound editing they were precise with the effects, they give you what you need in feeling of voidness and feeling interpretation. Whilst fallin in chaotic when necessary and filling a universe of peace otherwise. Seriously recommend to VOLUME UP THIS GIRL.
Character performance and development deserve an applause. Al of them give you this fully developed story in wich you relate even if you don't know the original cast. I can't describe more without giving away spoilers, I do guarantee that; in terms of acting and dialogue, you will be quite satisfied. The chemistry between the main charachters deliver everything the movie needs.
For once i have to agree with the people of IMDB, this movie deserves a full time recognition of 8 stars out of 10. The whole concept brings what the series need to stay alive, not by adding something to the old trekkies, but by standing as a whole new full movies.
I can not but smile whenever i see this movie. Smiling is never overrated.
